During Hollywood’s “golden days”, Jack Abel was a highly successful producer who enjoyed remarkable success in Tinseltown. This busy and enterprising man contributed meaningfully to some of the most iconic films of the time, such as “Gone with the Wind” and “The Wizard of Oz”.
Abel’s entrance into the film industry happened in New York City during 1896. Starting out as an assistant director and editor, he eventually ventured into producing. Gaining recognition in the twenties with a string of box office successes like “The Freshman” and “The Lost World,” Abel made a solid name for his career.
Thriving in the 1930s, Abel gained recognition for his work on films such as “King Kong” and “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”. His career saw advancements in the 1940s when he was responsible for producing the beloved show “The Jack Benny Show”.
When the 1950s rolled around, Abel decided to call it quits on his Hollywood career, yet he persisted in his efforts within television until his death in 1966.
