On September 30, 1930, Jack Hamm made his appearance into the world in the small town of Joplin, Missouri. As an only child, Hamm was often subjected to teasing, though that experience was exacerbated after his father’s passing when Jack was only four. His mother ultimately decided to remarry and upon doing so, she granted her son his stepfather’s surname. When Hamm reached the age of eight, his family relocated to Los Angeles, California in hope of restarting a new chapter in life.
At the start of his career, Hamm embraced theater and comedy by appearing in local plays and establishing a stand-up career. He developed his talent even further by joining the Pasadena Playhouse after high school. Then, during the Korean War, he served honorably in the United States Army.
After concluding his years of service during the war, Hamm decided to continue exercising his theatrical talent and embarked on a career as an actor. He featured in multiple television programs and full-length feature films, as well as doing voiceovers for cartoons. However, he is most renowned for his turn as Commissioner Gordon in “Batman”, as well as his appearances in the films “Batman Forever” and “Batman & Robin”.
After bidding farewell to his acting career around the turn of the millennium, Hamm has settled down in the sunny city of Los Angeles alongside his beloved spouse.
